Black Sheep launches porter for ‘darker, colder evenings’
The Masham-based brewer in Yorkshire said the 4.2% ABV Astronomer is a rich pint, combining tasty malts with notes of chocolate and coffee to create a dark, smooth and flavoursome brew.
The brewer added Astronomer has been designed for beer lovers to enjoy during the darker, colder evenings in front of a crackling, open fire.
‘Heaps of chocolate’
Pouring black in colour with an off-white head, Astronomer is claimed to offer heaps of chocolate, roasted coffee and fruit flavours, combined with subtle hints of vanilla for a smooth taste.
Astronomer is the ninth addition to Black Sheep’s 2022 Seasonal Cask Beer Range – its biggest seasonal calendar to date featuring a number of new cask flavours.
Senior brand manager Jack Scott said: “As September marked the brewery’s official 30th anniversary, we wanted to continue just where we left off, creating more and more unique flavour blends for beer lovers to try. Whether it’s their first cask beer or one of many, we truly feel there is a pint for everyone.”
Made for dark beer lovers
Scott continued: “Astronomer, our brand-new seasonal beer, is the perfect autumnal beer and is made especially for dark beer lovers and those who enjoy flavours of chocolate and coffee. We love dark beers here at Black Sheep and our latest cask beer joins our other range of stouts including Milk Stout and Choc & Orange Stout. Its only available for a limited time so we’d encourage all publicans to give it a go on their bar as the nights begin to draw in.”
Astronomer will exclusively be available on cask and for a limited period this October.
As well as its visitor centre bar and bistro in Masham, the brewery also owns and operates a growing number of pubs and bars across the region, including the Three Legged Mare and the Last Drop Inn, both in York, and Leeds venues Mr Foley’s Tap House and the Black Sheep Tap & Kitchen.
