Booker unveils low-cost business function
Chef Central will utilise the existing Booker Group infrastructure and has been developed to serve multi-site, regional and national account businesses.
After a 12-month trial period, an optimal core range of products have been identified to offer customers from any sector the assortment the require.
Booker and Best Food Logistics network will move customers orders across the UK and customers can use the low-cost operation, a permanent core range supplemented with their specific nominated range requirements with a day one for day two ordering and delivering process.
Unique advantage
Full account management is also on offer with EDI integration available as well as full allergen support.
Chef Central has been developed in response to customer feedback, sales director John Dolan said.
He added: “Larger customers have been asking us to help them. They have seen Booker supporting the independent sector strongly by helping them to offset rising costs across their business with a constant need for value, quality, availability, consistency and customer service.
“We believe our scale will give us a unique advantage to deliver all of this for the customer. Our network and supplier relationships ensure great service and availability and this is coupled with an excellent range that eliminates costly expansion and duplication, while covering everything a large catering company needs."
Cost price value
Dolan said: “Chef Central will offer a unique proposition that delivers real cost price value for them without any compromise in service, coupled with extensive account management and supply chain excellence for all sectors of the foodservice market.”
Previously (March), Booker unveiled its first colleague network – Women in Booker – to help champion gender equality.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness of gender imbalance, create networking opportunities as well as to support, inspire and motivate female careers across the business.
Following the launch, a colleague steering committee was created in a bid to help form and shape the developments of the future.
