Brixton Academy reopening 'symbolic resurgence' of NTE
Announced on Monday 4 March, the Grade II listed venue will open its doors again on Friday 19 April with an evening of tribute bands planned for opening night.
NTIA CEO Michael Kill said: "We are extremely pleased to hear after a prolonged period of closure, the iconic Brixton Academy is set to reopen its doors.
“This is a significant moment not only for the venue itself but for the entire live music industry.
“Brixton Academy holds a special place in the hearts of music lovers, artists, and industry professionals alike.

“It’s reopening marks a symbolic resurgence of the night-time economy, signalling a return to the vibrant cultural landscape we all enjoy.”
Despite the death of two people at a concert in December 2022, Lambeth Council has allowed the site to retain its licence.
However, it has stipulated new operating and licensing conditions must be adhered to.
A petition to save the venue, which is more than nine decades old, was launched by the NTIA last year and received an “overwhelming response”, the association said at the time.
The closure of the academy following the fatal incident saw an “enormous downturn in trade” for local hospitality businesses, with some having lost £500,000 a week.
Beacon of hope
Moreover, nearly a third of all nightclubs in the UK closed their doors for good between March 2020 and December 2023, recent figures from the NTIA revealed.
Kill added: “We recognise the immense efforts made by all parties to ensure a safe and successful reopening.
“As we navigate the ongoing challenges, this milestone serves as a beacon of hope and resilience.
“We look forward to once again experiencing the magic of live music at Brixton Academy and celebrating the cultural richness it brings to the London community."
