ARA File Complications
Troubles Opening ARA Files
Archivaldo Not Present
When trying to open your ARA file, you get the error "Can't Open ARA File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Archivaldo for %%os%% installed. The typical path of opening your ARA with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: Another ARA-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect Archivaldo Version
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Archivaldo Resource Archive file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Installing the latest version of Archivaldo from Open Source is recommended. This issue mainly occurs when your Archivaldo Resource Archive file was created by a newer version of Archivaldo than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of ARA file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening ARA files are due to having the incorrect version of Archivaldo installed on your computer.
Other Causes of ARA File Opening Problems
Errors opening Archivaldo Resource Archive files can still occur even with the latest Archivaldo software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading ARA files, other external issues might be to blame. Other contributing causes:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for ARA
- The ARA file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Archivaldo or another ARA application experienced a flawed installation
- Something has caused file corruption of your ARA
- Past or present virus infection has affected your ARA
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your ARA file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your Archivaldo Resource Archive file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
