Troubleshoot FDCSS Files
Frequent FDCSS Opening Issues
Unknown Software Disappeared
When trying to open your FDCSS file, you get the error "Can't Open FDCSS File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Unknown Software missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your FDCSS because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When another FDCSS application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Unknown Software is Out-of-Date
Your Unknown File Type file is incompatible with Unknown Software because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version Unknown Software (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Unknown File Type file version that was created by a newer version of Unknown Software than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your FDCSS file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the FDCSS file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Unknown Software installed.
Other FDCSS File Issues
Although you might already have Unknown Software or another FDCSS-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Unknown File Type files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening FDCSSs. Other contributing causes:
- FDCSS file type Registry entries are wrong
- The FDCSS file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Defective install of a FDCSS program, such as Unknown Software
- Something has caused file corruption of your FDCSS
- Your FDCSS has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware related to FDCSSs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Unknown File Type format
