GP Troubleshooting
Issues Opening GP Files
Notepad++ is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open GP Files" when trying to open your GP. Customarily, this means that Notepad++ is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your GP with Notepad++, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another GP-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect Notepad++ Version
It is possible that your version of Notepad++ isn't able to open your Gofer Project Source file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version Notepad++ (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Gofer Project Source file version that was created by a newer version of Notepad++ than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your GP file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right Notepad++ version on your computer can cause problems opening GP files.
Associated Difficulties Loading GP Files
Errors opening Gofer Project Source files can still occur even with the latest Notepad++ software installed on your computer. If you are still having problems opening GP files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- GP file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry GP description
- Invalid installation of a GP-associated program (eg. Notepad++)
- Your GP file is corrupted (issues with your Gofer Project Source file itself)
- GP file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with GP has outdated drivers
- Windows cannot load your Gofer Project Source file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
