JDW stocks Kopparberg on draught
Some 600 of the group’s 872 sites are currently serving the Strawberry & Lime variant on draught already.
Kopparberg Brewery owner and managing director Peter Bronsman said: “We have enjoyed a great relationship with JDW since 2005. We are very excited to see JDW pubs serving our cider on draught.”
This follows the news in September 2018 that Kopparberg was moving its production to the UK in a bid to ‘soften the blow of Brexit’, The Morning Advertiser understood.
Extremely popular
This would be the first time the Swedish-based cider producer will make its usually imported products in Britain, and follows JDW boss Tim Martin’s decision to stock more non-EU products across his sites.
According to a memo seen by the Press Association, The Morning Advertiser was told the move would help Kopparberg maintain relationships with the pub trade following Brexit next year.
On serving Kopparberg on draught in his pubs, JDW founder and chairman Tim Martin said: “Kopparberg is extremely popular in our pubs and I know our customers will welcome the fact one of its ciders is now available on draught.”

He added: “Following our substitution of French Champagne and brandy for the UK, Australian and American alternatives, the Kopparberg initiative shows scare stories about the danger to UK consumers from blocked ports and planes not flying are wide off the mark.
“Provided the UK leaves the EU without a ‘deal’, we avoid the payment of £39bn to Brussels, regain control of fishing and can eliminate tariffs on thousands of non-EU imports, reducing prices in shops.
“Enterprising companies like Kopparberg will keep trade routes open, since it is in their own interests and we look forward to trading with them for many years to come.”
