Punch invests over £800k into estate
The pubco injected £285,000 into the White Heart in Fernhill Heath, Worcester, £270,000 into the George pub in Huntington and £260,000 into the Turks Head in Penzance.
Set to reopen under new management partner Julie Brannon, from Tuesday 15 November, the White Heart has been refurbished inside and out with improved seating and dining areas, complimented by a new food and drinks menu, including hand-made steak and ale pie and local cask ales.
Barron said: “It’s fantastic to be able to reopen the pub, the investment has given the pub a new lease of life.
“I’ve got a great established team full of familiar faces and I’m already planning a whole host of events to get a real buzz around the place.”
Luxurious space
Also benefitting from Punch investment was the George, which recently opened its doors following an eight-week refurbishment.
The Grade II listed pub has seen its bar and dining area thoroughly refreshed to amplify its best assets as well improved soft furnishings to heighten the venues authentic ambience.
Following the refurbishment, new manager partners Kerry and Simon Trayhorn said they were “excited” to welcome new and old guests to the venue, with Kerry adding the businesses was “family orientated” and ambitious to provide a pub “the local community could be proud of”.
Additionally, the George has reopened with a fresh new menu, consisting of quintessential pub classics alongside dishes such as lamb short ribs.

“The investment has really enhanced the pubs look and feel to make it a really luxurious place for all to enjoy. We’re sure the local community and visitors to the area will be equally as pleased and enjoy all Kerry and Simon have to offer here for many years to come."
Unique pub
Dating back to the 12th century and once rumoured to have held the Magna Carta, according to the pubco, the historic Turks Head pub has also reopened following investment from Punch, with new management partner Neeka Goodwin ready at the helm.
Inside, the pub has retained its quirky and authentic features, including a wooden bar, fireplaces and secret pirate doors that have been restored to give a realistic glimpse into the pub’s past as well secluded ‘snug’ areas.
Similar to other Punch sites, the Turks Head has reopened with a new menu, including a warming fish pie.
Goodwin said: "I feel so lucky to be relaunching such a unique pub. I've had nothing but care and support from all the locals and businesses; it's just amazing here.
“The investment has done wonders, creating a stunning pub that is relaxed and truly authentic, and there is more to come. I urge all our guests to venture into the secret garden to the rear of the pub, it's a gorgeous, idyllic space to relax in."
