Traditional pub reopens after £205k investment
Management partners Karan and Peter Boyes have taken the helm of the pub after a two-month restoration that included brand-new external signage and a revamp of its six bedrooms.
The pub’s traditional features, such as its wooden bar area, have also been enhanced and a new menu serving pub classics will be on offer.
Karan and Peter were “thrilled” to relaunch the pub. Karan said: "We’re loving being here and sharing the new-look Avenue with the locals.
“The rooms are proving extremely popular; we’ve got people visiting family and friends from all over the world and as far afield as South Africa!
“It's lovely to offer guests a home-away-from-home in a ‘proper’ pub that’s now been shown the love it deserves and can be enjoyed by so many.”
Proud staff
Punch Pubs senior operations manager Jannine Leadbetter said the company was “proud” to be reopening the doors of the Avenue.
She continued: “It's such a great example of a traditional pub at the heart of a community, the rooms are gorgeous and add something special to make it really stand out from the rest.
“Our management partners Karan and Peter are doing a fantastic job bringing the pub to life and will ensure the Avenue’s success for many years to come."
It’s been a busy summer for Punch pubs, with multiple sites reopening doors after extensive makeovers. The operator ploughed £270,000 into the Spread Eagle in Brentwood, Essex, which reopened in August promising a “luxe bar and dining experience”.
The Ship, in West Hanningfield, Essex, also reopened in August following a £300,000 rejuvenation by the pubco, which included a complete internal and external revamp.
Big month
During its six-week transformation, works at the pub included a restyle of its interiors and enhancement of its architecture and traditional features.
Punch’s second pub named the Ship in Eighton Banks, Tyne and Wear, also reopened in August a £360,000 investment.
The pub, located in Eighton Banks, between Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Sunderland, has undergone a complete internal and external refresh and Punch said guests will “fall in love with this great British pub’s traditional features”, which include a wooden etched bar area that has been enhanced in the makeover.
Outside, the pub’s extensive garden area has benefited from new, improved seating and tables with those walking to the Angel of the North statue in mind.
