Sequel gastropub for celeb chef Tom Kerridge
The 3,600sq ft, two-storey Victorian pub, on Tyron Street in Chelsea, London, is set to open towards the end of this year.
Kerridge said the team were “delighted to have secured a prestigious location” for the new venue.
“The pub will be a spin off from the original, in that it is not a carbon copy of the Marlow pub, more emphasis will be placed on drinks and the bar in Chelsea and we will not offer a takeaway butcher’s service, but guests will be able to choose their cuts from the meat fridge,” he continued.
Predominantly wet-led
Kerridge is also known for his two Michelin-starred gastropub the Hand & Flowers, in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, which is number 8 on the Top 50 Gastropub list, and opened the first Butcher’s Tap & Grill site, also in Marlow, in 2017.
While the new Butcher’s Tap & Grill will feature a menu of butcher-cuts, burgers and hotdogs, the 100-cover pub will be predominantly wet-led, offering a rotating roster of drinks including Rebellion Lager and a wine list curated by Gavin Hills from the Hand & Flowers.
In addition, the venue, which will be open for lunch and supper, will also serve Sunday roasts and offer a takeaway service for burgers and hotdogs.
Complete revamp
The site, formally known as the Queen’s Head, will also be completely redesigned and refurbished, including a bespoke timber staircase, new bar and dining area, commercial kitchens and booth seating as well as updated toilets and back of house areas.
This comes as the chef last week urged the Government to “do more” to address issues faced by the sector in an interview with The Morning Advertiser editor Ed Bedington.
Kerridge added: “We very much want to be a local’s local, somewhere to pop in, have a pint, watch some sport have a bite and relax. We will also be dog friendly so well behaved four legged friends are very welcome too.”
