Brexit menu to feature ‘Farage falafel’ and ‘bap-stop’ burgers
The Dog & Partridge pub in Marchington, Staffordshire, decided to host its first burger event on 31 October, the same night Brexit is scheduled to take place.
The special menu – named the Great British Brexit Burger Bash – has been devised in lieu of the pub’s usual Halloween event, with ghost tours and spooky entertainment.
Burgers on offer on the night will include the Leo Varadkar Irish ‘bap-stop’ burger, a minted lamb burger with potato patty, tomato and rocket.

There will also be burgers named after Jean-Claude Junker, a chilli burger with jalapeno peppers; and Angela Merkel, a chicken burger with German smoked cheese.
Also on the menu is the Farage falafel burger, made with falafels, hummus, beetroot and a tahini lime dressing, and the ‘Big Boris’ triple burger, with three beef patties.
Site operator Paul Needham told The Morning Advertiser: “We do lots of different theme nights but we have never got around to doing anything with burgers.
“We have ghost tours and we get people in to do Halloween-themed nights but this year we are not doing it.
“So I thought ‘what else is happening round about Halloween?’.
“Of course the 31st is supposedly the day that we are going to leave Europe regardless.”
Outside the box
Needham’s friends and wife helped him with the idea of naming the burgers after Brexit politicians.
He added: “Needless to say, it's Halloween that night so I know we are up against other things and maybe families are out with the children doing what they do.
“The other side of the coin is that I'm sure there are lots of other people that won't be with children that probably see this as a nice alternative.”
The pub is not making a political point about the menu or doing anything else to mark the event.
After a positive customer reaction to the menu, the pub has plans to extend the menu over the following Friday and Saturday.
