Which pubs has JDW sold?
In its most recent trading update, the pub group revealed it had opened two pubs and sold 10.
The sale resulted in a cash inflow of £2.9m and 35 sites remain on the market, making the current trading estate total 844 pubs.
Cautiously optimistic
The Morning Advertiser understands the remainder that are still for sale will continue to trade as JDW until or unless they are sold.
In the update, JDW chairman Tim Martin said he was “cautiously optimistic” about the company’s prospects for the financial year.
He added: “The biggest threat to the hospitality industry is the vast disparity in tax treatment between pubs and restaurants and supermarkets.”
Employer accolade
Just before Christmas 2022, the company revealed it was set to permanently shut three sites, which followed announcements that it had placed 39 venues on the market.
Moreover, earlier this month (January), the business was recognised by the Top Employers Institute as a Top Employer in the UK this year.
It was the 18th time JDW had been certified by the Top Employers Institute – the independent organisation behind the accreditation.
