HXML Troubleshooting
Common HXML Opening Problems
Haxe Removed
When trying to open your HXML file, you get the error "Can't Open HXML File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Haxe installed for %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you don't have Haxe installed, and you know of another program to open your HXML file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Incorrect Haxe Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Haxe installed that's incompatible with your HaXe Make File type. If you've got the wrong version of Haxe installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Most of the time your HaXe Make File file was created by a newer Haxe than what you have installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of HXML file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Conclusion: The majority of HXML file opening issues are due to not having the correct Haxe version installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening HXMLs
Errors opening HaXe Make File files can still occur even with the latest Haxe software installed on your computer. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening HXML files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for HXML
- Deletion of the HXML file description from the Registry by mistake
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the HXML format
- Your HXML file is corrupted (issues with your HaXe Make File file itself)
- Your HXML is infected with malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your HXML file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your HaXe Make File file successfully
